With the outside of his boot, Gerrard sent Fernando Torres racing through on goal. The pass appeared too wide for the Spaniard to pose any real danger to the Chelsea rearguard. But the S$60million striker had other ideas. He glided into the Chelsea penalty box from the left. He showed Tal Ben-Haim just enough of the ball to make the Chelsea defender believe he had the Liverpool striker under control. He even slowed down to make the illusion complete. But a push of the ball, and a sudden burst of pace, turned things dramatically. Left with Petr Cech to beat, after Ben Haim was caught out, Torres placed the ball into the corner of the net to sent Anfield into delirium!

But all was undone when Rob Styles awarded Chelsea an invisible penalty later on in the match. Referees' chief Keith Hackett has confirmed Rob Styles will not take charge of a match next weekend after his performance in the game between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday. On Styles, Hackett added: 'I spoke to Rob this morning and obviously he is extremely disappointed with the decision and admitted he got it wrong. I have left a message with Rafael Benitez to apologise. 'Having looked at a video and seen a better angle and a better view, clearly he (Styles) now recognises that he got it wrong and he's deeply apologetic for that. I think, in fact, he too will be making contact with Liverpool in order to offer his apologies.'
